Summer 2024

 Wow what a year it has been. So busy and helping more and more pupils. These children deserve an education and to flourish. I am humbled to work with children that have overcome barriers to learning and are now returning happier to the school/education environment.

I am still working hard with leaders in East Midlands Schools to help them understand the complexities of the children in their schools. More and more specialist places are in demand, with no places available. This means that more mainstream schools are dealing with higher levels of complexity than ever before. This is putting more pressure on staff and ultimately pupils.

However, with help and guidance, this CAN change. Schools inclusive culture is now embedding, and more children are managing mainstream schools with positive outcomes. Schools are trying hard to understand the most vulnerable pupils and offer what a child needs.

I don’t agree that its right for all pupils to be accessing mainstream, but I can’t see things changing anytime soon I’m afraid.

Some new exciting news! The one area of immense need are the children out of school due to mental health and/or trauma. These children are accessing online learning in the home, missing out of social skills but too frightened to return to the school environment.  This is why I am proud to announce two new courses for these children. So, the start of the new academic year is upon us. I just want to thank all schools, parents and ultimately children for working with us and for the resilience they all show.
